Description

Artist Talk: Saturday, May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.

MINT presents a solo exhibition for Heather M. O’Brien, MINT’s 2016 Best In Show from the juried exhibition Where We Are Going, Where We Have Been. O'Brien presents two of her recent films, "Where this photograph was found," and "Our machines are made of pure sunlight." O'Brien says her work “explores how capitalist desire and militaristic legacy construct our ideas about home.
What is the difference between image, time, and space, particularly in relationship to inheritance, the making of national identity, and domestic imagination?" Ultimately, she said she seeks to build encounters around issues that undo American social and cultural conditioning, and the illusion of accurate memory.
