Description

Atlanta is the heartbeat and the soul of African-American philanthropy in the South. Today, this tradition continues with people like Elizabeth Omilami and Nathaniel Smith. They are carrying the torch passed to them from people like the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lewis and Andrew Young.

The Soul of Philanthropy is an exhibition dedicated to the tradition of African-American philanthropy. Groundbreaking in its focus and depth, The Soul of Philanthropy presents the stories of an unsung legacy of Black philanthropists, centuries-old cultural customs and beliefs about ingenious givers carving a way out of no way.
