Description

Women’s Caucus for Art of Georgia presents "The Art of Protest" concurrent with the Decatur Book Festival. Americans spent $4.1 million on poster and foam boards from Jan. 15 to Jan. 21, 2017, proving that during difficult times, humans come together and art flourishes as passions arise. Member artists of the WCAGA will create original protest art using materials reminiscent of protest marches. WCAGA/Art+Activism artists stand for First Amendment rights and the rights of others. Artist submissions include visual art, performance art and spoken word. A collaborative event will include visitors who wish to contribute to a wall inspired by Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale.” The finished wall will symbolize the ability to be resilient and optimistic even in times of struggle.
