Description

Small Expressions is an annual exhibit that has been produced by the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. (based in Suwanee) since 1983. It is shown in a different city each year and hasn't been in the Atlanta area since 2005 when it was shown at the Mable House Arts Center in Mableton, GA. The juror for this year's exhibit is world renowned, Atlanta based tapestry artist Jon Eric Riis, and he has selected 33 masterfully crafted entries that are visually compelling, diverse, and impactful. They speak to intricacy of expression, intimacy of design, and thoughtful communication, making the most of their small size (less than 15 inches in any dimension).

This prestigious exhibition is the inaugural event for the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance’s ten-year anniversary celebrations. It is what SEFAA is all about wrapped up in one exciting package – supporting artists working in any textile technique, promoting the textile arts, preserving tradition while encouraging innovation, and connecting the textile and fiber arts community. SEFAA’s textile arts center in Chamblee is a regional hub for classes and workshops, exhibitions, events, tours, monthly meetings/lectures, open studio hours, artist studio space, a lending library, and rental space for textile-related activities. Their focus on textiles – traditional to cutting-edge – is unique in Georgia.

This event takes place at:
Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance Center
3420 W. Hospital Ave
Chamblee, GA 30341
