Poet Richard Blanco, who gained recognition after reading at the second inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2013, will give a reading of his poems at Emory University. Blanco is the youngest, first Latino, first immigrant and first gay person to serve as inaugural poet. Tickets are not required, but seating will be limited. Books and a limited-edition broadside will be for sale at the reading, with a signing immediately after.

Blanco’s published works include his first poetry book “City of a Hundred Fires” (1998), which won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize, and his latest, “How to Love a Country” (Beacon Press, 2019). He has received numerous accolades for his poetry, including the Paterson Poetry Prize, a PEN/Beyond Margins Award and multiple fellowships.
