With the Center for the Study of the Civil War Era in the heart of the region that houses the famous locomotives The General (at the Southern Museum) and The Texas (at the Atlanta History Center), it should not be surprising that the theme for our 16th annual symposium is The Railroad War: Transportation’s Critical Role in the Civil War. In addition to the Center’s director, Dr. Brian Wills, the featured speakers for this exciting event are Gordon Jones of the Atlanta History Center and Tom Parson of Corinth, Mississippi. The Georgia Civil War Commission is a much-appreciated sponsor as part of its educational outreach. The symposium is a free event and registration is not required. Please plan to come to this informative and exciting event and bring friends and family who want to know more about railroads and their roles in the Civil War!
