DUEL // DUAL :

Definition #1- contest with deadly weapons arranged between two people in order to settle a point of view or honor...

Definiton #2- consisting of two parts, elements, or aspects

Joseph Guay explores the two sides and battles of our sociological and political climate with his new body of work titled "DUEL // DUAL." Elements of the exhibition include photographs and sculptures diving into the production and disarmament of weapons; paintings made from motor oil, shattered high-rise glass and gunpowder dealing with terrorism and the alternative reasons for war; sculptures created from live round ammunition and handguns revealing the hidden truths of consumer protection and fear; and "The Border Wall" public art installation created from steel and concrete reaching 40 x 16 feet, examining the sociological and economic effects created by expanding the U.S./Mexico border wall.
