From the sequined drop waist dresses of Jazz Age flappers to the military-style uniforms of World War II Red Cross workers, fashion is a public statement contextualizing the moments in people's lives. The elegant and historic Swan House provides a unique backdrop to this fashion exhibition showcasing examples from the extensive textile collection of the Atlanta History Center. Each main room presents a variety of examples of the fashion and defining clothing of a particular decade spanning the 1920s to the '60s, telling Atlanta’s past through fashion for each of the decades Swan House was occupied by the Inman family.
