‘Stellaluna’ And An Artist’s Goal To Create The Ideal Puppet

The artistry of Jason Hines is evident in his intricate creations for the Center for Puppetry Arts, with characters including the Cat in the Hat, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Pete the Cat.

Hines’ most recent project is “Stellaluna,” the center’s adaptation of the beloved children’s book.

He stopped by”City Lights” recently with several creations in hand and began by explaining what it takes to create the ideal puppet.

His creations can be seen in “Stellaluna,” on stage through March 8.
