The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater considers Atlanta its second home.
The world-renowned New York-based company has performed here regularly since 1976.
The younger Ailey II is in town now.
The company will perform a spirited program Saturday at the Rialto Center. Before that, on Friday evening, there will be a special event surrounding the Romare Bearden exhibition at the High Museum of Art.
“City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with Ailey II choreographer and artistic director Troy Powell. His association with Alvin Ailey began at a very young age.
He will discuss Alvin Ailey with Dr. Mary Schmidt Campbell at the High Museum on Friday. Ailey II performs Saturday night, Oct. 26, at the Rialto Center for the Arts.
