Beat boredom by hanging out in the city this week.

Ranging from DragonCon to a soul food festival, there are plenty of fun, must-see events happening in Atlanta for an array of ages and interests.

DragonCon 2019

When: Aug. 29 to Sept. 2

Where: Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta Hilton, Sheraton Atlanta, Atlanta Marriott Marquis, and the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel

Cost: $160 Advance Membership Rate

DragonCon is back in Atlanta. The highly-anticipated will span multiple locations in Atlanta and will include a parade, contests, parties and opportunities for cosplay.

Refinery29’s 29Rooms: Expand Your Reality

When: Aug. 29 to Sept. 8, 10:30 a.m.

Where: The Works, 1295 Chattahoochee Ave. NW, Atlanta

Cost: $34 for Adult Tickets, $29 for Group Tickets, $10 for Children’s Admission

Step into a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience by visiting the traveling Refinery 29: 29Rooms event. Expect to see art of all kinds, ranging from dance to sculpture, while exploring space/

AJC Decatur Book Festival 

When: Aug. 30 to Sept.1, times vary

Where: 101 E Court Square, Decatur

Cost: Free

Book lovers, this is will be the place to be. There will be author sessions, street fairs and a children’s parade.

5th Annual Veggie Connection Event

When: Aug. 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: 200 Village Green Cir SE, Smyrna

Cost: $5 for Early Bird tickets

This event is all about plant-based living and will include speakers, vendors and entertainment that will showcase the lifestyle.

Taste of Soul Food & Music Festival

When: Aug. 31 to Sept. 1, 12 10 9 p.m.

Where: At the entrance at 10 Northside Drive

Cost: Free

Savor dishes prepared by some of the leading soul food restaurants in the city at this festival. The outdoor event will include live performances by artists, such as K Camp on Saturday and Chante Moore on Sunday. Art, winemakers and games for kids will also be onsite.
