If you have a fitness new year’s resolution or just want to get moving, there are many opportunities to work out in new ways.
From yoga with dinosaurs to trap pilates, we’ve compiled our list of fitness events happening in Atlanta.
When: Jan. 12, 13, times vary
Where: Village Vitality, 409 Mead Rd #2, Decatur
Engage in free yoga at Village Vitality that will include complimentary coffee and kombucha. On Saturday, there will be flow, basics and deep stretch classes. Then, there will be flow, deep stretch and slow flow classes on Sunday. Class schedules are available online. Open hours for each day is 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
When: Jan. 12, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Where: Fernbank Museum of Natural History, 767 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta
Cost: $15 for members and $20 for non-members
Practice yoga in the museum where some of the largest dinosaurs are. Follow yoga instructor Elizabeth Rowan’s moves that is geared to yogis of all skill levels. She specializes in The Kaivalya Yoga Method, which combines Ashtanga and Jivamukti.
When: Jan. 13, 5 to 6 p.m.
Where: Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road Northwest, Atlanta
Adoptable puppies will be a part of this one-hour yoga class. An instructor from Highland Yoga be leading the course that is just for people 18 and over. Afterward, tours of the shelter will be offered to attendees.
When: Jan. 27, 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Where: Nirvana Yoga Studios, 464 Cherokee Ave SE, # 201, Atlanta
Perform yoga moves while listening to songs, such as “Yoga,” by singer Janelle Monae. Be sure to bring a mat to be ready for the 75-minute class led by yoga teacher Jaimee Ratliff.
When: Jan. 28, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Where: AlterEgo Pilates & Fitness Studio, 139 Ralph McGill Boulevard Northeast, Atlanta
Cost: $22 – $28
Expect twerking and trap music at this fitness event that will be held before the Super Bowl. Event goers can do trap yoga, trap dance and trap pilates.
