This week will bring us into wintertime, with the first official day of winter happening on Dec. 21.
Enjoy the start of the season by listening to live jazz at the High Museum of Art or seeing a performance of “A Christmas Carol” live at the Wren’s Nest.
Here’s our list of must-attend events happening in Atlanta this week.
Time: Dec. 17, 7 p.m.
Where: Monday Night Brewing Garage, 933 Lee St. SW, Atlanta
Cost: $30 plus a fee for General Admission, $10 for Designated Driver
Step into this intergalactic-inspired party being thrown by Monday Night Brewing. The “Griswolds-meet-the-Jetsons” bash will have a live DJ, costume contests and more than 20 specialty beers available.
Time: Wednesdays through Sundays until Dec. 30, times vary for each day
Where: Wren’s Nest, 1050 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. SW, Atlanta
The Wren’s Nest will be the site for this theatrical production of “A Christmas Carol,” which will include caroling and a look inside the historic home.
Time: Dec. 21, 5 to 11 p.m.
Where: Atlantic Station, 1380 Atlantic Drive NW, Atlanta
Wear your ugly Christmas sweater proudly while skating away at Atlantic Station. During the night “The Polar Express” will be shown rinkside at 7 p.m.
Time: Dec. 21, 5 to 6 p.m.
Where: Historic Oakland Cemetery, 248 Oakland Ave. SE, Atlanta
Breathe in the chilly, winter air while doing yoga on Oakland Cemetery’s lawn. The session will be led by Nirvana Yoga and Mystic Lotus Yoga. Organizers are suggesting for attendees to donate $5.

Where: Atlanta History Center, 130 West Paces Ferry Rd NW, Atlanta
Cost: $20 for adults, $10 for children
Within the Atlanta History Center’s candlelit walls, there will be a holiday market, Santa’s workshop and a performance by Octave, an all-woman a cappella group. The event-filled night will also include a lighting of the 1861 Christmas tree and a visit with Santa Claus. Salads and soups from Souper Jenny will be onsite, along with barbecue from Lovies BBQ.

Cost: Free with Museum Admission
Jazz pianist Tyrone Jackson will be playing jazz songs live at the High Museum of Art. This is a part of the museum’s jazz series.

Where: LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta, 3500 Peachtree Road NE G-1, Atlanta
Cost: $24.95 and up per person
Take the kids to see the Big Tree Build, which is over 7 feet tall in LEGOLAND. Guests can also build a holiday puppy and go on a scavenger hunt.
