This Weekend In Atlanta: Guaco Taco Fest, Sesame Street Live & More

During the Veterans Day holiday weekend, the will be many ways to enjoy time with family and friends.

Eat samples of tacos and guacamole cooked by popular local food spots, or see the North Atlanta Dance Theatre perform in The Nutcracker.

From concerts to art showcases, we’ve listed some of the top weekend happenings to check out.


Red Bull Music Presents: ATL Is Burning Ball

When: Nov. 9 at 8 p.m.

Where: Georgia Freight Depot, 65 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Atlanta

Cost: $10

What to Expect: See music artists, such as Leikeli47, MikeQ and Leonce, perform at this 18 and over event. The concert is organized by Morph, Southern Fried Queer Pride and Red Bull Music.


Sesame Street Live In Atlanta

When: Nov. 9 to 11, times vary for each day

Where: Infinite Energy Arena, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth

Cost: $20 to $50

What to Expect: Sesame Street is coming to Atlanta this November. Elmo, Justin, Abby and friends will be performing during this magic focused show.

Where: Westside Cultural Arts Center, 760 10th St. NW, Atlanta

Cost: $35 for adults, $15 for students

What to Expect: Atlanta native Troy Schumacher, who is a choreographer with the New York City Ballet, will be presenting his work during “Translation.” The living art installation will have a backdrop of lights created by Sergio Mora-Diaz.


Guaco Taco Fest

When: Nov. 9 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Where: Atlantic Station, 1380 Atlantic Drive NW, Atlanta

Cost: $15 in advance, $20 day of the event

What to Expect: Guacamole lovers, this is your festival. Bell Street Burritos, Mezcalitos and Willy’s Mexicana Grill will be offering up eats at the event. Tickets will buy entry and entertainment. Food samples will cost $3.


WE ToursATL “Farms In Living Color” Walking Tour 

When: Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon

Where: Westside Atlanta BeltLine Trail – Various Locations in Atlanta

Cost: Free

What to Expect: Take a walk through the Atlanta BeltLine’s Westside Trail and see the land of some of the nine farms situated near the path. WeTours ATL is bringing this free event to have attendees engage with local farmers.


Late Harvest: On Back Roads in the Deep South 

When: Oct. 12 to Nov. 10 from Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Thomas Deans Fine Art, 690 Miami Circle NE, Suite 905, Atlanta

Cost: Free

What to Expect: Art from the “Late Harvest: On Back Roads in the Deep South” exhibition will be showing at Thomas Deans Fine Art. The pieces are reflective of what Atlanta-based photographer Forest McMullin observed when he traveled to the Deep South.


Fernbank After Dark: Science of Our Senses

When: Nov. 9 from 7 to 11:30 p.m.

Where: Fernbank Museum of Natural History, 767 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta

Cost: $10 for General Admission

What to Expect: This 21 and over event will give event-goers access to the museum for some after-hours fun complete with libations. Attendees will be taught about the human body’s senses and a live band, Villian Family, will be performing soulful country music.


The Nutcracker

When: Nov. 9 to 11, times vary for each day

Where: Infinite Energy Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth

Cost: $18 to $28

What to Expect: Snow will fall on-stage as the North Atlanta Dance Theatre performs the Nutcracker during this large-scale production.
