Chilly nights and otherworldly frights indicate that Halloween season is upon us.
Atlanta will be teeming with unnervingly enjoyable ways to celebrate the holiday that involve family-friendly, adult-oriented and bar crawl happenings.
We’ve compiled 12 of the most sought-after Halloween events that will be sure to give you thrills and chills.
2018 Grant Park Halloween Lantern Parade
When: Friday, Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Grant Park, 600 Cherokee Ave. SE, Atlanta
More than 35,000 people are interested in coming to this event hosted by Grant Park Conservancy. Food trucks and drink stations will be open to attendees starting at 6 p.m. Then, the lantern parade will kick off at 8 p.m. at Milledge Fountain on Cherokee Avenue. The Black Sheep Ensemble will be leading the procession of colorful lanterns back to the fountain where they will jam out with the Wasted Potential Brass Band. Adams Realtors and Dakota Blue will have lantern kits available for $20 on site.
Boo at the Zoo
When: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Ave., S.E., Atlanta
Cost: Free with general admission and for zoo members and children under 3
Get the family together for some Halloween festival fun at Zoo Atlanta. This weekend, there will be a Monster Mash Disco, kids’ crafts, carnival games and a costume parade. Artist Lundy Cupp will also be featured in a pumpkin carving show. The festival environment will have friendly spooky decorations. Adults are encouraged to dress up with the kids as long as the costume isn’t scary, a clown or include a mask.
Halloween at Hogwarts
When: Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Where: Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, 1280 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta
Cost: Standard Tickets starting at $15
Hear the sounds of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra during their Halloween at Hogwarts performance. Assistant Conductor Stephen Mulligan will immerse the audience into the sounds of Hogwarts. Before the concert begins, there will be a costume contest for the cutest, funniest, scariest and most creative outfits, and prizes will be given out.
Trick-or-Treat at Georgia A-Scary-Um
When: Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Where: Georgia Aquarium, 225 Baker St., Atlanta
Cost: Kids under 12 in costume get in free with a paid adult or Annual Membership holder
Go trick-or-treating with the fish and marine life at the Georgia Aquarium. There will be full-sized candy to be found throughout the space and a Halloween-themed photo station. Kids can also do arts and crafts during their visit.
Halloween Scares at Atlanta Horror Story
When: Friday, Oct. 26 at 10 p.m.
Where: 55th & Park Restaurant & Lounge, 55 Park Place NE, Atlanta
Cost: Complimentary General Admission, $7.50 for VIP as of Oct. 24
Party the night away in Downtown Atlanta during the Atlanta Horror Story party held at 55th & Park Restaurant. DJs will be spinning tracks for the crowds, and there will be a mini haunted house inside of the location. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costumes, and spooky prizes will be given away.
Haunted Heights – A Nightmare on Ponce
When: Saturday, Oct. 27 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Skyline Park, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave. NE, Atlanta
Cost: General Admission is $40 in advance, $50 at the door
At this 21 and over event, the rooftop of Ponce City Market will be filled with many ways to celebrate the season, including free rides on Heege Tower and Skyline Slide. Especially spooky drinks, such as blood bags, will be served. The celebration will also feature boardwalk games where scary prizes will be awarded.
Latin & International Halloween Party – MONSTER BASH
When: Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m.
Where: Eclipse Di Luna Dunwoody, 4505 Ashford – Dunwoody Road, Suite 11, Atlanta
Cost: Free with RSVP
If you planning to wear an elaborate Halloween costume, the Monster Bash at Eclipse Di Luna Dunwoody is the place to be. The top five placing people in the costume contest will win more than $2,000 in cash and prizes collectively. Dia Zero Band will be performing international hits and DJs will be spinning rhythms from around the world.
Nightmare in Atlanta III – Halloween Party
When: Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Around 1,000 people are expected to come out to the third annual Nightmare in Atlanta party held at Le Fais do-do. DJ Captain Malik and ALTID2 will be in the building and there will be multiple dance floors throughout the space. Prizes for the best costume, best couple and most original costume will be awarded during the Costume Contest.
Midtown Halloween ‘18
When: Oct. 26 from 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
Where: CosmoLava, 45 Thirteenth St., Atlanta

Enjoy a night out at Midtown bars- without cover charges- by coming out to the 21+ Midtown Halloween crawl. More than 25 clubs, bars and restaurants will be participating in the crawl with varying drink specials, such as Fado Irish Pub, My Sister’s Room, The Daiquiri Factory and The Nook.

Become a part of this Halloween costume crawl and gain entrance into bars, such as Dark Horse Tavern, Limerick Junction and 10 High. The 21 and over event will have drink deals, a $1,000 cash costume contest and an after party.
Halloween in the Highlands

Where: Neighbor’s Pub, 752 North Highland Ave. NE, Atlanta

The revelry will continue in the Virginia Highlands during this neighborhood Halloween crawl organized by Atlanta Bar Tours. Diesel, Tiki Iniki, Genki Noodles & Sushi and Taco Cowboy are a few of the bars participating in the event. The $1,000 costume contest will happen at 10 High at 11:30 p.m.
Buckhead Creepy Crawl Halloween Party
When: Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: Moondogs Atlanta, 3179 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta
Cost: $15 until Oct. 29, $20 on Oct. 29, $25 on Oct. 30
Party at bars around Buckhead during this event organized by Atlanta Bar Tours on Halloween night. With the purchase of a ticket, attendees can gain entrance into and deals at hotspots, such as Red Door Tavern, Lost Dog Tavern, Dive Bar and Cabo Cantina. Moon Dogs is the site of the costume contest that will happen at midnight.
