Your Guide To Homecoming Festivities At Atlanta-Area Universities

It’s homecoming season in Atlanta, a time to return back to campus to reconnect.

Several colleges and universities in the city are throwing large-scale celebrations for students and alumni, from live concerts to engaging parades with celebrity appearances.

Here’s what Emory University, Georgia State University, Morehouse College and Spelman College have planned for homecoming.

Georgia State University

When: Oct. 21-27

During Georgia State’s Homecoming week, plan to see plenty of blue and an array of events happening around the city. Some ways students and alumni will celebrate the season include a Golf Cart Parade coursing from near Hurt Park to Georgia State Stadium on Oct. 27.

Tailgate for the Panther’s football game against Coastal Carolina with students or alumni. Tickets for the Oct. 27 match are $20 for the public and can be bought online. Watch alumni and students show off their skills at the Georgia State’s Got Talent Show at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24. More Georgia State Homecoming information can be found online.

Morehouse College

When: Oct. 21-28

Next week, Morehouse College will hold over 20 homecoming events around campus including a Kick-Off Jam on Oct. 21 and the Entourage Homecoming Parade where actress Jasmine Guy will be the grand marshal on Oct. 27.

The 25th Annual Homecoming Alumni Tailgate Experience will precede the Maroon Tigers’ match against Fort Valley State University on Oct. 27. Tickets for the football game are $25 for General Admission, $18 for kids 4 and up, and free for young ones under 4. More Morehouse College Homecoming information can be found online.

Spelman College

When: Oct. 25-28

Alumnae and Spelman sisters will be reconnecting during the upcoming Homecoming season. The series of events will start with an Innovation and Technology Summit Opening Convocation on Oct. 25.

Enjoy fellowship and music at Market Friday in The Beverly Daniel Tatum Suites Amphitheater and the Welcome Home Day Party in the Museum of Fine Art on Oct. 26. Tailgate with Spelman Alumnae, where southern BBQ spreads will be sold, on Oct. 27. Admission for the tailgate is $15 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under.
